Etchings inspired by nature

Drying plants

I gather natural material from all over the world and transfer its texture on copper or zinc plate in an attempt to freeze and capture the process of time.  I select elements that characterize the botanical identity of cities I visit and live in.  Sometimes, it travels a long way with me before I carefully select and prepare each leaf and flower in my home studio. This process can take up to several weeks during which the flora will slowly dry flat, change colors and shapes, become very delicate, fragile, and gets ready to go through the etching press.
